Herbert’s portrait of the Jews owes more than a little to anti-Semitic stereotypes. The Jews of Dune, with the exception of Rebecca (perhaps a nod to the noble Jewess of that name in Ivanhoe) are insular, xenophobic, and fanatical. The rabbi is a whiny, bullying, pathetic figure who wails when his orders are countermanded and waves some kind of Jewish scroll for emphasis when he speaks.

Gerald Jonas of The New York Times noted that "Against all odds, the universe of Dune keeps getting richer in texture, more challenging in its moral dilemmas." Dune, and is supported by the fact that Beverly died shortly before and Frank shortly after "Chapterhouse: Dune" was published, and of course the touching dedication and afterword. However, it is apparently disproved by the fact that FH planned and had begun working on another Dune novel before he died, and that he did not know of his terminal Chapterhouse: dune reviews and ratings added by customers, testers and visitors like you. And, unlike other faiths, the Judaism of the far future has changed not a whit. The saga consists of six novels: Dune (1965), Dune Messiah (1969), Children of Dune (1976), God Emperor of Dune (1981), Heretics of Dune (1984), and Chapterhouse: Dune (1985). 1956 was a life changing year for Frank Herbert, for he learned of a project enacted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The ending of Chapterhouse: Dune is, in my opinion, one of the better endings in the Dune series as a whole, if not the best. Though the series never saw the completion Frank Herbert had intended for it, I feel like the conclusion in this book does it justice and ends it all in a satisfying manner.. The Final Verdict. Chapterhouse: Dune by Frank Herbert is a nearly-flawless unexpected

Though the series never saw the completion Frank Herbert had intended for it, I feel like the conclusion in this book does it justice and ends it all in a satisfying manner. 2019-01-09 · Frank Herbert – Chapterhouse: Dune (1985) Review Posted on January 9, 2019 by Jeroen Admiraal After four stellar novels in the Dune series, the fifth one, Heretics of Dune (1984), left me spinning. Chapterhouse: Dune, the final installment, was, quite frankly a bore, an uninspiring punctuation mark to an otherwise memorable cycle. Perhaps Herbert knew he was nearing the conclusion of his life, and utilized this final chapter to deliver a number of his previously untouched upon ideas as possible, though at great cost to the narrative value of the story. However, it doesn't fall into the traps of Heretics of Dune; Chapterhouse: Dune doesn't cut away from the climax or contain too much in the way of Herbert's uncomfortably-written sex scenes. (There is one important sex scene involving a ten-year-old, but let's just try to ignore that for the purposes of this review.) Chapterhouse: Dune, Frank Herbert, Berkley, 1985, 464 pp. Chapterhouse: Dune continues quite closely after the events of Heretics of Dune, unlike some of the earlier gaps in the series (which have added up to over five thousand years since the original Dune).
